Auckland
Auckland, the biggest city in New Zealand, is different to other big cities in many ways: it lies in the middle of nature between two harbours, surrounded by unique parks, picturesque sandy beaches as well as many islands and extinct volcanoes. The omnipresent water and the many sailing boats earned it the name of the "City of Sails". One third of the total population of New Zealand lives in Auckland. The cityscape is shaped by abundant white, wooden houses, and the few high-rise buildings in the city centre give rise to a big city atmosphere.
